The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
When linked internet site is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
